Vizio Soundbar Connecting to Samsung TV

You may connect the Vizio Soundbar to you Samsung TV in a variety of ways. Some approaches perform better than others depending on the type of your soundbar and your television. The following approaches have worked well for many people, despite the fact that some people have experienced troubles with these goods.

With HDMI ARC, you may connect your Vizio soundbar to the Samsung TV and test it. It’s perfect since it lets you manage the soundbar from your TV’s remote. However, there are situations when these two don’t line up.

Use optical cables if you can’t connect your Vizio soundbar to your Samsung TV. As with HDMI ARC, this should provide comparable audio quality. As a result, the soundbar’s remote control will be required in this situation. Alternatively, you may get a universal remote control that can control both your TV and your Blu-ray player.

Although you may connect your soundbar to the TV through Bluetooth, this is not suggested. There is a noticeable drop in sound quality, and the connection may not always be reliable.

RCA cables may be used, although they have the same drawbacks. The sound quality is poor, and some contemporary TVs do not have connectors for RCA cables.

By using an optical cable, you may connect your Vizio Soundbar to your Samsung TV.

The sound quality is lossless while using optical cable. Because you’ll have to use two different remotes to operate your Vizio soundbar and Samsung TV, this is the runner-up choice for connecting the two devices.

If you wish to connect your Vizio soundbar to your Samsung TV through optical, follow these instructions:

  1. In order to connect your TV and soundbar, you’ll first need an optical cable long enough to reach both devices. You should be able to identify the optical port on the back of the Samsung TV with ease.
  2. The prongs on the optical cables’ ends have plastic coverings that need to be removed. Make sure you don’t harm the delicate prongs by carefully removing them.
  3. Using the optical cable, connect one end to the connection on the back of the Samsung TV that matches the other end.
  4. Your Vizio soundbar’s optical cable should be plugged into the correct port.
  5. Both your TV and soundbar should be turned on at this time.
  6. Setup may begin as soon as both devices have been switched on. Press the ‘input’ button on your soundbar remote and choose ‘Optical.’
  7. On your soundbar, go the audio settings and turn off the TV speakers.
  8. Select either Bitstream or Dolby Digital for the Digital Audio Out options.
  9. The soundbar on your Vizio should produce sound now that you’ve tried playing a track. Refer to Step 10 if this is the case.
  10. A different option on your Samsung TV has to be adjusted if the soundbar isn’t producing any sound. Select Sound Settings > Expert Settings under TV Settings. Switch to PCM in HDMI/Digital Audio Output Settings. The problem should be solved now.

Options for Optical Cable Troubleshooting

If you’ve done everything outlined here and your Vizio Soundbar is still not producing sound, what can you do?

We’ll go through some of the most typical issues people have when using an optical cable to connect a Soundbar to a TV.

If the sound isn’t coming from your Vizio Soundbar, one of two things is going on.

  1. There is no sound whatsoever.
  2. Currently, the only audio is coming from the Samsung TV speakers.

To fix this problem, you’ll need to experiment with a few more options.

  1. Go to the TV’s advanced settings.
  2. The PCM option may be found by selecting “HDMI” and “DAO” in the menu.
  3. Your Vizio Soundbar will now be the source of your audio.

In order to connect your Vizio Soundbar to your Samsung TV using HDMI ARC, follow these instructions

In order to connect your Vizio soundbar to your Samsung TV using HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel), you need to use HDMI 2.0. That’s because you can use your TV remote to operate both devices, and it provides the same sound quality that an optical connection does.

Connecting your Vizio soundbar to the Samsung TV is as simple as the steps shown below:

  1. Use HDMI ARC on your Samsung TV. In most modern Samsung TVs, HDMI ARC is supported, however older models may not.
  2. If your Samsung TV supports HDMI ARC, you’ll need a lengthy HDMI cable to connect the Vizio soundbar to your Samsung TV. ARC is a port function, not a cable, therefore any HDMI cables will work.
  3. Using an HDMI cable, connect one end to the HDMI port on your Samsung TV.
  4. Make sure the other end of your HDMI cable is plugged into your Vizio soundbar’s HDMI port. The cable should be long enough to have some slack and not tug on any of the ports.
  5. On your Vizio soundbar, press the power button.
  6. On your Samsung TV, press the power button to turn it on.
  7. The input settings on both devices must be changed after they are fully powered up. To begin, connect your TV’s audio through HDMI instead of the TV’s built-in speakers. Audio settings on your TV may be adjusted in this manner.
  8. On the rear of your Vizio soundbar, choose ‘Input.’ On the input menu, choose ‘HDMI.’
  9. Make an attempt to hear sound on your television. If your Vizio soundbar is producing sound, that’s fantastic! Step 10 may be skipped if desired.
  10. Changing the sound settings on your Samsung TV is necessary if you don’t hear any sound. Select the ‘Sound Settings’ option in your TV’s settings menu to achieve this. Expert settings may be found here. The HDMI/Digital Audio Output parameters are now editable. To begin delivering sound to the soundbar, they should see the word ‘PCM’ on the display.

HDMI Optional Troubleshooting

We’re here to help if you’ve tried everything listed above and your Vizio Soundbar is still not producing any sound, so don’t give up hope yet.

Either your Vizio Soundbar or Samsung TV speakers will be deafening silence. Another option is to keep listening to music via your TV’s built-in speakers while turning off your Soundbar entirely.

To remedy this, first check that you’ve inserted the HDMI properly and turned the input button to HDMI as shown above.

Check your Samsung TV’s settings if everything else fails. You may access this option by going to the sound settings and clicking on the “Expert Settings” option.

That’ll do it. Change the HDMI and DAO settings in Exper to PCM. Pulse-Code Modulation (PCM) is a common audio format used in digital audio applications.

You will hear sounds just from your Vizio Soundbar after making this update. There are a few of more things you may do if it doesn’t work, like contacting Vizio or Samsung for customer service. They will gladly assist you with your audio problems.

Connecting a Vizio Soundbar to a Samsung TV using RCA Cables

You may use this guide to connect your Vizio soundbar with an RCA connection to your Samsung TV. It’s not the ideal approach, but it’ll do in a hurry.

  1. Red and white audio cables are required. Check that the red-and-white holes labeled “Audio Out” on the back of the Samsung TV and Vizio soundbar reflect the RCA connectors you need.
  2. Using the white cable, connect both devices to each other. Make sure that both devices have their red ports plugged in.
  3. Activate your soundbar by pressing the AUX button on the remote control.
  4. On your soundbar remote, press the menu button to launch a new menu on your television screen. The soundbar’s menu is here.
  5. Navigate to the menu’s audio section. You may now switch off the TV speakers from this point on.
  6. Toggle your Analog Audio Out to ‘Fixed’ further down the menu if you wish to independently regulate the volume of the soundbar. Alternately, choose “Variable” to let your soundbar’s volume sync with that of your TV.

How to Use Bluetooth to Connect a Vizio Soundbar to a Samsung TV

Bluetooth is an easy way to connect your soundbar, but it isn’t as stable as HDMI ARC or Optical in terms of sound quality. Here’s how to use this option if you’d want to.

  1. Make sure that your Vizio soundbar is connected in and switched on, then press and hold the Bluetooth button. If your television has a remote control, you may choose the choice there as well.
  2. If you’re using a TV, make sure it’s turned on as well. Navigate to the Bluetooth menu on your TV. You’ll need Bluetooth turned on and looking for compatible devices.
  3. You should be able to discover the Vizio Soundbar in your Samsung TV’s Bluetooth connection option. The model number is likely to be mentioned. If you choose this option, your devices will be connected.

Users Experiences

Using a Vizio Soundbar with a Samsung TV.

Hey there!

In an effort to use it with my Samsung 60″ (2010), I purchased a Vizio SoundBar.

It was recommended by Best Buy (where we purchased it) to bypass our DENON receiver and go directly to the television. I’ve drawn a diagram of how we’re organized:

A1: You can connect it through optical, but you’ll miss out on a simple remote control solution and will have to manually switch your sound bar on and off.

Receiver by Denon was stated, correct? What are the inputs and outputs for this device?

A2: You have a soundbar and a receiver, but I’m not sure why. One or the other is required.

Using the HDMI connector labeled “HDMI (ARC),” connect the soundbar. Not sure which number is on your TV; it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer). In Sony’s case there are three, in LG’s there is just one.

Why can’t I manage my Vizio soundbar using the Samsung TV remote?

When the volume button is pressed, “Audio Out/Optical” is all that is shown.

I’m sick of using two remotes to do the same thing since my DirecTV remote used to do it all (before I disconnected the cord).

Model UN55NU6900 is a Samsung 4K Smart TV with a Vizio soundbar.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide!

A1: My 2018 Samsung TV and Vizio soundbar experienced the same problem. In order to utilize the optical out as an audio source, I was unable to connect it (with the official explanation that you cannot control audio attached to optical out).

My TV’s sources were clearly visible when I checked them out (cable, blu-ray, etc) On the far right, there was a setting labeled ‘Universal Remote.’ I went ahead and selected it, then clicked on Add a New Connection and then on Home Theater.

I had to manually add ‘Vizio’ since I couldn’t find it in the list. Next, I was requested to hit an on-screen button to check whether it would shut off the gadget, as you may recall from a previous screen. It happened right away. I can now adjust the level of the Vizio sound bar using my Samsung remote.

No sound is coming from my Vizio 5.1 soundbar, which Samsung frame tv recognizes. Detection of the bar is made possible thanks to CEC being enabled. My mind is completely blown, to put it mildly.

A1: ARC vs. eARC is most likely the case. Consider whether or not your TV and bar are compatible. By default, my Vizio TV sends out eARC signals, but my bar can only output ARC signals. As soon as I turned off eARC, I was able to listen to my favorite shows without any issues.

A2: In fact, I experienced the exact identical issue with my Vizio 5.1 speaker and Samsung 4K TV. All of my issues were handled by switching to optical – it still surprises me that HDMI, the ARC, and HDCP handshake BS are still there.

Using a Vizio Dolby Atmos Soundbar with a Samsung UHD TV does not work

Unfortunately, my Vizio Dolby Atmos SB46514-F6 and my Apple TV 4K aren’t working together. The soundbar’s output is routed to the Samsung TV’s HDMI ARC input through the passthrough feature on the soundbar. But when I try to switch on the improved UHD color option on the Samsung TV, it tells me “Mode not supported” A Mode not supported message should appear when trying to use the TV’s 4K broadcast mode, but it doesn’t.

As long as I connect the AppleTV 4k straight to the Samsung TV, the UHD color option works just great. If you’re looking for atmos sound, you’ll need a direct connection between the AppleTV 4k and the sound bar. Both Vizio and Samsung point the blame at the other firm, as I discovered after speaking with them both. Could someone give me some pointers on how to make the 4K passthrough capability of my soundbar work with my AppleTV programming and the improved UHD color feature?

A1: An easy cure with certain drawbacks is at hand. If you’re looking for an app that supports HDR, 4K, and Dolby Atmos playback, you’ll need to locate one that is compatible with your TV and soundbar. As a workaround, you may just launch the Netflix app on your soundbar’s HDMI port if you are a Netflix subscriber. The irony is that if I cancel my Netflix subscription, I have no idea how to enable my TV and speaker to produce HDR once again without visiting the app. Yes, I hope so.

A2: With the help of Audio Extractor, I was able to get my Shield, Samsung UHD, and Vizio Soundbar to output video and lossless audio straight to my TV and soundbar, respectively.

The model I’m using:
